Barbados

Barbados

When to visit?

Did you know? The turquoise waters of Pebbles Beach serve as a natural recovery spa for the island’s racehorses. The salt water is a vital part of their post-training routine, helping to cool and soothe their muscles after a morning on the track.

Peak (Dry Season): December – April. These months are great for constant clear skies and higher chances of perfect beach days.

Shoulder Season: July – November. Chances of rain increases but crowds decrease.

Off-Season (Wet): July – November: Humid weather. The chances of tropical rain are much higher; however, you still have the chance of getting perfect sunny days during your entire visit and at lower costs with fewer crowds.

Card, Cash, or both?

I never had an issue using a credit card anywhere in the island. Cash can be useful for some taxis and street food.

Connectivity & Tech

  • Network Reality: Barbados is one of the most connected islands in the Caribbean. My international roaming plan worked flawlessly across the entire island, from the luxury stretches of the West Coast to the remote cliffs of the North.

  • Power & Plugs: Barbados uses Type A and Type B plugs (the same two-flat-pin or three-pin style used in the United States). The voltage is 115V, so your US gear will plug in and work perfectly without any adapters or converters.

My most uncalibrated experience in Barbados

I was snorkeling along the western coast, just drifting above the sea turtles and schools of tropical fish, when a massive silhouette suddenly emerged from the blue. Right off the shore, a shipwreck sat perfectly preserved on the seabed. The ship had been completely reclaimed by the ocean—huge schools of fish were darting in and out of the rusted portholes. There’s something grounding about seeing the exact moment where man-made history ends and the natural world takes back the wheel.
