Croatia

When to visit?

Did you know? Hvar is home to the oldest communal theater in Europe. Established in 1612, the Hvar Public Theater was revolutionary because it was open to everyone, regardless of social class. At a time when theaters in London or Paris were strictly segregated by rank, the aristocrats and commoners of Hvar were watching the same plays under the same roof. It was a massive "uncalibrated" leap forward for social equality,

Peak – summer time: July – August. Hottest months. Great time to visit costal towns and beaches.

Shoulder: May – June & September – October. These months offer decent weather (warm days) with less crowds.

Cold weather: November – April. Cooler days and less crowds. You may experience snow in the winter.

Card, Cash, or both?

Credit cards are widely accepted throughout Croatia. ATMs are very accessible if needed.

Connectivity & Tech

  • Network Reality: Our international roaming plan through our US carrier worked well throughout Croatia.

  • Power & Plugs: Croatia uses Type C and F (Standard European). The voltage is 230V.

My most uncalibrated experience

My favorite moment in Croatia was realizing that the best parts aren’t the famous cities, but the stops you don’t plan. Driving along the coast is incredible—every time you turn a corner, the view gets even better. We started pulling over at random, hidden paths that led down to quiet beaches far away from the crowds. These spots were only filled with locals. Floating in that salty water, hearing nothing but the wind in the trees and people speaking Croatian. It’s just having the freedom to stop whenever you see beautiful blue water.
