Spain

When to visit?

Did you know? In 1812, during the Peninsular War, Napoleon’s retreating troops attempted to blow up the entire Alhambra complex to prevent it from being used as a fortress. They planted massive explosive charges in the towers and palaces. The only reason the Alhambra still stands today is because of the "uncalibrated" bravery of a single disabled Spanish soldier named José García. As the fuses were burning toward the gunpowder, he threw himself onto the lines, cutting them and risking his life to stop the chain reaction. While eight towers were lost, the Nasrid Palaces and the core of the citadel were saved by his split-second decision.

My most uncalibrated experience in Argentina

My most uncalibrated moment was wandering the streets of Seville after dark. The city has this uncalibrated energy at night—everything feels alive. We were walking through the Plaza de España just as the lights were turning on, making the tiles glow. From across the square, we heard the faint sound of a guitar and rhythmic clapping. As we got closer, we found a group of Flamenco dancers performing right there on the old pavement. Seeing that cultural rhythm in its natural environment, without a stage or a spotlight, was incredibly powerful. It felt like the heartbeat of Andalusia.
